Savannah Banana Bread
Ingredients
Perishables:
1 Stick Unsalted, Softened Butter
2 Large Eggs
2 Tablespoons Milk
2 Overripe/Spotted Bananas
Dry Ingredients:
2 Cups All-Purpose Flour
1 Cup Granulated Sugar
1 Cup Baking Chocolate Chips/Morsels (Optional)
1 Teaspoon Baking Soda
1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
1 Teaspoon Salt
Tools:
2 Large Mixing Bowls
1 Hand Mixer or Whisk
1 Bread Loaf Pan (size 9x5”)
Nonstick Baking Spray, Flour, or Butter (To Coat the Pan)
Instructions
Before Cooking: Set out ingredients and tools and preheat the oven to 325°F.
Step 1 - Dry Ingredients
Whisk the flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder together in a bowl until combined. Set aside.
Step 2 - Butter and Sugar
In another bowl, combine softened butter and sugar. Mix until it looks creamy and light.
Step 3 - Eggs
Beat one egg in, mixing thoroughly, then repeat for the other egg. Once the mixture is completely combined, add the bananas and milk. (Optional) You can add the chocolate chips, if desired.
Step 4 - Combine Bowls
Add the flour mixture into the wet ingredients. Stir in a little at a time until completely combined.
Step 5 - Bake and Cool
Lightly grease the loaf pan with butter, baking spray, or flour. Pour the batter into the pan. Bake for 1 hour and 10 minutes.*
*Bake time may vary based on oven type, ingredients, and elevation. Ensure your bread is thoroughly cooked before removing from the oven. Use the toothpick trick: stick a toothpick into the middle of the bread. If it’s clean when you remove it, the bread is done.
Step 6 - Enjoy!
Go bananas! Eat it by itself or try it with a scoop of ice cream, walnuts, or hazelnut spread! Experiment with different spreads and sides for fun new flavors!
